Kate Middleton Attends the Epsom Derby June 4, 2011

Catherine at The Epsom Derby, June 4, 2011

The Duchess of Cambridge showed up at the Epsom Derby on June 4, 2011 to support her granny-in-law (the Queen of England), who had a horse in the race (QE's horse came in third). Kate put together an outfit of her favorite neutral shades of off-white, bronzy-beige, and nude heels. The jacket was fitted and tailored, the skirt floaty and short, and the hat remarkably subdued for the occasion. She carried a tiny little clutch in a similar color to the hat, and gold earrings. Let's face it, she looked fab. I'll always say she looks too thin, especially in the thigh and knee areas, but this outfit is so pretty!!

Nessie tweed jacket by Joseph, $755; Natalie Clutch, $230 from L.K. Bennett; Peacock dress, Reiss, $320; Sledge2 nude court shoes, L.K. Bennett, $287.

The outfit reminds me a little of this one, that Chelsy Davy wore to Prince Harry's Army Pilot graduation in May of 2010.

  1. Actually the more I look at Kate's outfit, the less I like it. Everything is mismatched, the skirt is summery and WHITE, the jacket is more wintery and CREAM(and looks like something she might have borrowed from her mom), and the hat matches nothing.

  3. I'm going to vote that Chelsy wore it better!

  4. Loved the whole look! The floaty and structured is classic Kate style and the colors are razor hot for summer 2011. I had forgotten about Chelsy's outfit, but yes, there is a resemblance, although the two different personalities are expressed in the difference between the way Kate put the outfit together, and the more relaxed way that Chelsy wore hers. Love the post!

  5. I don't think it was her best moment, but definitely an ensemble that stood out from everyone else. Great compare and contrast with Chelsy!

    Sending you a smile,

  6. The hat was my favorite part of this outfit. With her hair up, it was stunning. I do think she could have worn a bit more color on her lips, however. Maybe just a light bit of glossy color?
