The Duchess made her first speech today, at The Treehouse, a childrens' hospice in Ipswich. She wore a royal blue dress with black belt, shoes and clutch. The press has made a big deal of the fact that this same dress was worn by Kate's mother, to Ascot, a couple of years ago. I don't know why this should be a surprise, those of us who follow Kate have speculated for some time that her mother is highly influential in Kate's choice of apparel.
That said, I have to say I really like this look. The color is bright and cheerful, the dress is well cut, with just enough detail to make it interesting, and Kate wore a cute bracelet with orange and purple stones, that looked adorable. The outfit was bold enough that Kate was easy to spot in a crowd, and she seems to be inching cautiously toward the idea of accessories. Well done, I say.
Now, let's get to work on her posture. I'm not sure if it's the fact that she wears sky high heels, but her head pitches forward and gives her a hangdog look, or like she's constantly ducking her head to avoid a low ceiling.
