June 5, 2012 was the culminating day of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. The Royal Family took part in a service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's, then an awesome procession through the streets of London. After lunch at the Palace, there was a photo op and fly-by on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. For the day, the Duchess of Cambridge chose a pale beige lace covered dress with a ribbon belt by Alexander McQueen, who is fast turning into her go-to fashion house. Very demure, very covered up, with a modest neckline, long sleeves, and a hemline that is lower than I've ever seen her in before. Her hat was a neat little multilayered construction by Jane Taylor, with netting and little crystals nestled in the petal-like additions. Is it a touch fussy? Yes. Do I like it anyway? Emphatically yes. The earrings are beautiful, too! I hope they're real diamonds. All in all, I like this look a lot. It might not work for very many events, but for today it was just about perfect. And even more importantly, Kate has eased up just a tiny bit on the eye makeup, AND she's had her hair pushed behind her most of the weekend. Hallelujah! So what did YOU think? By the way, here's how Her Majesty accessorized a slimfit lace dress back in 1954 in Australia! Some svelte form, eh??
