Wimbledon July 4 2012

Everyone knows the Duchess of Cambridge is a tennis lover, and it's great to see young royalty backing the sport by showing up at Wimbledon. I remember the Diana years when Princess Diana would be regularly in the royal box, often with William as her companion.
Makes one wonder how William feels, repeating this event with Catherine at his side. One hopes he would be happy to be carrying on a tradition his mother was so fond of.

But to the fashion! This Alexander McQueen dress has seen the light of day on one other occasion -- in Canada a year ago, Catherine wore the cable knit dress to visit the home of Anne of Green Gables. I liked it then, and I like it now. It has a vintage feel, evoking a sense of nostalgia that is appropriate to both occasions.

More importantly, in this dress one can see that Catherine has (yay!) put on a few badly needed pounds. She looks better in this dress now than she did a year ago. Still....there's a tiny little piece of me that is whispering "she's trying too hard...she's trying too hard...." because there's somehow just a hint of the costume about this look on this occasion. It's almost too appropriate.

Am I wrong?
